First Annual Assembly of Standards Committees

Over 1,000 officers, members and others attended the First Annual Assembly of Standards Committees held in Birmingham on 20 May 2001. As well as hearing the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Dr Alan Whitehead affirm the government's commitment to local government and those who serve it, the assembly listened to contributions by practitioners from local government officers and members, and from Peter Riddell, Political Correspondent of The Times and Ben Page from MORI.
Delegates have requested a copy of the questions and answers that were raised during the Question Time session held in the main hall with Paul Rowsell from DTLR and Allan Cairns and Patricia Hughes from The Standards Board. A copy of the questions is available below.
