Standards committees have become the ethical standards bearers of their authorities, shaping the ethical agenda and putting it into practice. And with the introduction of local investigations and determination regulations, they now have even greater responsibility for standards of behaviour in their authorities. This year's conference turned the spotlight on the work of standards committees, and others within local government who play a significant role alongside them, to enable them to take ownership of the ethical agenda.
