The Standards Board for England roadshows 2005

We ran a series of events over the first half of 2005 to:

  • listen and respond to your feedback and experiences, particularly where you had local investigations or determinations;
  • talk about the next steps we needed to take in order to move the ethical agenda forward;
  • hear your first-hand views on the review of the Code of Conduct and share with you the emerging themes;
  • discuss the characteristics of good practice and how it could be achieved;
  • tell you about improvements in our performance;
  • offer support and advice from our legal and policy teams.

In addition to being an excellent opportunity to share news, views and feedback, the roadshows were a good chance to network with monitoring officers and standards committee members. You can view and download the full programme below.

We visited 11 locations across the country, and were able to offer each authority the opportunity to send up to three attendees to one event. They were:

  • Leeds, The Queens, 22 February 2005
  • Nottingham, Park Plaza Hotel, 24 February 2005
  • Tunbridge Wells, Salomons Conference Centre, 1 March 2005
  • Southampton, Novotel, 3 March 2005
  • Manchester, Thistle, 24 May 2005
  • Newcastle, Marriott, Metrocentre, 26 May 2005
  • Norwich, Marriott Sprowston Manor Hotel & Country Club, 7 June 2005
  • Birmingham, The Hyatt, 9 June 2005
  • Bristol, Novotel, 14 June 2005
  • Plymouth, The Copthorne Hotel, 16 June 2005
  • London, the Barbican, 21 June 2005

There was no charge for attending this event.

Booking forms were sent to all monitoring officers, who were asked to co-ordinate attendance from their authorities. Places were allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
